And another thing...!!!

  • Problem: On my way home on Monday I saw a sign pointing west that said "Tour de Donut". I got really excited, envisioning some kind of fun summer event where you walk around orem, provo, etc. and sample unique donuts from little mom and pop shops. Charming right? Its a bike race with donuts at the water stations...and as if that is not disappointing enough, the sign was old and the race was already done.
  • Solution: I decided that I want to set up a REAL "tour de donut" and go sample REAL donuts from cute little bakeries. I'm thinking like one Saturday morning a month, try out a new place. If anyone wants to join my REAL tour de donut or has donut manufacturers to suggest, let it be known.

That's all right now....

update

It has been a while since I posted so here is a flash summary of what's been happening...

  • I now have a grown up job (aka full time with insurance and stuff I still don't understand, but that make me feel mature). I'm the aquatic boss over at South Jordan. The best part of all this is that I can now put my fancy business cards in the Cafe Rio drawing box. Haven't won any free pork yet, but soon...very soon!
  • I got engaged in September 2011. Cleo asked me outside in my parent's back yard as we were taking a break from making a little waterfall to suprise my mom. It was night and I have no idea why, but fireworks just happened to be going off in the valley which we had a pretty awesome view of.
  • Cleo and I started looking for housing and decided we wanted to buy. On Friday the 13th of Jan. we closed on our townhouse. Since I was living at home and Cleo had a few weeks left in his apt. we tried to get as much painting done before we moved in....but pretty much the whole house needed it. Almost everything was yellow...not one of my favorite colors.

  •  In Feb. we got married and then went to NYC for our honeymoon. I got a totally authentic louis vutton handbag from some nice gentlemen in china town. I think Cleo might value the purse more than I do because "we risked our lives" to get it or something overly dramatic like that. Sure...the guys were as big as shaq but alleys aren't really as scary as in the movies. heh. We also checked "going to Serendipity" off my bucket list. Their frozen hot chocolate is amazing.

  •  We adopted a hamster from my Brother Tyler. One of his hamsters had babies so I picked the crazest one and named her Spazzy-Pants. A few days later I took Cleo to pick out his bday gift, a new kitty. Her name is Tonks and lives in a cupboard under our stairs...and is currently attempting to sprawl out and sleep on my keyboard. Lovely.

  • I'm in love with pinterest and am starting house decorating projects like a mad woman. I don't think I'll post photos this time...the craftiness deserves its own post I think.
  • Next week is Cleo's last week at Big 5. He's been with them over five years now, but he's going back to school full time and that just doesn't work with his schedule as a manager. Its also a bit far to drive for only part time hours and pay so he's going to start looking for a nearby school friendly job soon.
That's all folks...I'm exhausted....

Episode iv: A New Post

Hello everybody. I'm posting again with a few new things that entertain me.

#1: New Projects

This is my old/new entertainment center. I got it on KSL after a chain of events that landed me with a new big tv, which no longer fit in my old entertainment center. The left is what it looked like when I got it and the right is after spray painting it. I really like it.

My next project has to do with my old entertainment center. We were going to yard sale it, but when I was clearing it off to haul it upstairs I was all bummed out because it fits really well right in this area of the living room that is kinda narrow and weird. I've always wanted to put a desk there and as I was looking at it....inspriation came.

This is the entertainment center (or the paint version) that is now too small. And this is what I plan to do with it...

Steve took it apart last night for me and the desk is the perfect size and height for my office chair and that little weird area in the living room. I'm going to paint it green and white, I think. The bottom section I might paint and put in my room for my record player and booket, etc. We'll see.

#2: The DRIVE-IN!!!!

http://www.redwooddrive-in.com/#/movies/

Yeah, I like movies, but unless I'm with Cleo I don't go to the theater that often. The drive-in is totally different though. I would go every night if we had one closer, but I plan on going to the one linked to above every chance I get this summer. Tuesday is Rango and Thor!

#3: Kid History

Internet Explorer keeps shutting down on me so I'm going to wrap this up event though more things entertain me. But watch kid history, quote it to friends, etc.

Laters!

Day 7

Day 7: Your Dream Wedding

Well someone...actually many people now, stole my dream wedding. I came up with it way before any of them and somehow they stole it from my mind. Idea thiefs.

Maybe it was like in inception....

Day 6

Day 6 – A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet.

I love bengal tigers...a lot. While I appreciate that BYU has a wild cat as a mascot, I secretly wish I could go to a school that had the bengal tiger instead. They are HUGE and awesome. Of course if I had one as a pet, in a perfect world, it would like me and only attack my enemies....it may also stay a cub forever...I can't decide if I'd like that or not cause the big ones look cool too.

Oh...I was supposed to be realistic? Well then I would like to have this little guy as a pet:

Day 5

Day 5 – A photo of yourself two years ago.

So that's me around two years ago.

Things that are different:
-I no longer have brown hair
-Mary Nelson no longer works at the pool so we don't disguise the baby to throw off the guards anymore...lame.
-I now wear a black shirt to work...

Things that are the same:
-I work at the pool again
-I still own and wear those jeans and that jacket

Yup, that is about it. amen.

Day 4

Day 4- Your favorite photograph of your best friend

I feel like I have a best friend from each different life segment. My friend Katie from when I was little, Rachel Janette and Amanda from high school, Brittany from college, Morgan from Disney, etc. Can I just post lots of pictures?? ok cool. :P

Not as much hair anymore, but that's how I'll always remember Chris. :P

Seducing the corn dog man at Disney. Awe...miss you guys!

Bahahaha!

Laughed so hard making this "Princess Cake" with Brittany!

Sorry Brittany, but I love this picture of you.

Day 3

Day 3- Your idea of the perfect first date:

I've been considering this question for about 30 seconds now and, as usual, am making it way more complicated than it needs to be.

At first I thought skydiving...but that is just something I want to do no matter the occasion. Also...thinking back on some of my first dates...yeah, lets just say no thanks.

Another thing to consider- how long have I known this person? If its a blind date situation I think the perfect date would be one where you and your mystery man sit on opposite sides of a movie theater and see something awesome...like The A Team or Repunzel (check it out! It is awesome!).
On the other hand, if I've known this person for a while, I would probably suggest a movie in the park that we both love and have seen a bunch (Princess Bride or something romantic and adventurous too). That way its all sentimental and awesome, but you've seen it so you can talk and such too.

Lastly, am I excited about going on a date with said person? If not, I'd revert back to the opposite sides of the theater idea. If I was excited that would be different.

Hm hm hm...a cooking class. Yep. I've decided. A cooking class has the best of everything. You're around other people, but can chat if you want to. You'd have something to keep you busy so it would be less likely to get awkward. Teamwork towards a common goal would provide a bonding experience and I think you'd learn a lot about each other. Also, the food portion of the date is taken care of and now more meaningful cause you made it together. And lastly, it would take long enough that it could be the only thing you do on the date. Or, if things go well, you could extend the date to include dessert, a movie, a walk, whatever, etc.

Numbah #2!

This might actually get done in 30 days cause I'm going to be procrastinating like a champ this week and next. Aka...final projects/papers due AND then finals.

Day 2 – A photo of something you ate recently.

I didn't actually take a picture of it at the time, but a little over a week ago I went to Tucanos for a friend's Birthday Lunch and she made us all (except Ashley, who I am shaking my fist at right now) eat one. Yes...they are chicken hearts. They were tiny, yes, but gross cause I knew what it was and kept thinking of a baby chickie with a single little tear rolling down its face. ..like this.

Anyways, I will try almost anything once so I don't regret it...but will never eat one again. Poor chickie. :(

In more tasty news, I have rediscovered my love for Chick-fil-a. Delish. Also, the kids meal comic books are hilarious. So far I've read "Cold Cuts" and "The Grissle Missle". Both winners, if you couldn't tell that from the names already.

Peace out!

Photo of me ^

This month has been...good. Still staying really busy. Lots of school projects due and lots to come here in the next week.
Cleo moved here (yay!) about a week ago now.
Earlier in the month we had my mom's side family reunion. My cousin Cindy planned it and it was pretty spectacular, if I do say so myself. I missed having them in the church gyms. It was fun to be able to play basketball an such.
Throughout the month I've also been planning the Legacy Aquatic Center Holiday Dive-In Movie. EVERYONE COME!

Fer serious guys. It will be so fun.
That is all I really remember except for Thanksgiving, which happened a couple days ago. It was grand. I got really full and failed to make butter.
The end.

What's Going Down?!

Title inspired by my new daily planner. I probably needed one yesterday, considering all the different things going on with school and work and everyday life. I designed it myself on snapfish.com which is an awesome website where you upload photos and can either order cheap prints or design your own fun little projects and gifts like this. If you don't have an account with them yet, let me know and I'll send you a link so you can get 50 4x6 prints for freeee!

Anywho, I posted this link on facebook, but I entered a local photo contest this month and I'd really appreciate it if you would vote for me on this site by commenting:

My photo is number 4. The theme was texture. :)
Peace out boy scout.

Insert clever song lyrics here about how I'm back.

Yes, I have returned from California. Yes, I lived in CA for almost 8 months. No, don't feel bad if you didn't know. According to the activity levels on this blog I could have been dead. Anywho, I am very much still living and decided to bring this thing back to life after reading my old pal Janette's cute little couple blog. This endevor may be slightly disappointing seeing as I am not a cute little couple and don't know what in the world I'll end up posting about.

To start off I think I will just post pictures of friends which amuse me and tell a little memory gem about them.

Mandi "From Sandy" West

West side walk it out!
Mandi was my room-roomate in CA. We had some good times. We arranged to room together before arriving to the Disney College Program through a facebook group. I knew we'd get along just dandily when I saw this picture:

Yep, my friends. She is on the far right. Presh in't she? One of my particular favorite past times with Mandi was sitting across the room from each other in our apt on facebook chatting and laughing. Also, taking videos of her when she did not want to be filmed....which was pretty much always.

My favorite story with Mandi was when we were all busily preparing for Christmas in July. AKA, I was creating a facebook event at 1am. I needed to find a really dynomite event photo to represent just how epic this Christmas celebreation spectacular would be. The pressure was on. Now some may say the timing of this story (1am+) may have played a role in how humorus we both found this ordeal to be, but I assure you good reader .....(dramatic pause)...it did not. Google searching like a mad christmas elf, I found this:
Funny/random enough right? Wrong. I had a brilliant inspired artistic moment and told Mandi I would improve the photo to awesome proportions. She was impatient of course, but I prevailed and in a couple minutes saw my masterpiece come alive. Check this suckah out foo:

Yes dear readers, a true Christmas Miracle of hilarity. We laughed sooooo hard. I still can't look at it without busting up. She then proceeded to write a blog post about it entitled "Meowy Christmas" (found here: http://westsides-story.blogspot.com/2010/07/merry-christmas.html ) which then sent me into another fit of lawling.

Cheers to Mandi for making my Disney experience magical and hilarious at the same time. I'd cry if you'd have stayed in CA and left me to go back to Utah all by my lonesome. Can't wait for the She and Him concert yo!

My favorite things...

Language warning on this one:

Horrible....

Chinese food is yummy...

...but I'm stuffed. I couldn't finish my food from rice king (I think) today. Hyrum and I ordered delivery to the pool. I'm glad. I was getting hungry and its my long day at work. It was pretty good food. Also, Kaden brought me some chocolate from Las Vegas. How nice right?

So today playlist.com has been my best friend, although someone introduced me to a site called grooveshark.com , which is like an online itunes kind of. I like it a lot, but I accidently added like ALL of nora jones music...and she's cool, but I really only wanted one song at the time. :P Well I tried to delete them all from my library, but they just keep reappearing so we'll see how it works out. Maybe I'm stupid and am missing something. But yes, check it out.

uhm....I am tired....VERY tired. Oh! mylifeisaverage.com is hilarious. Visit that site too. :)

hola

Hey I almost forgot about this. Since I've last posted...

-My brother left on his mission

-I went to Disneyland

-I got glasses

Uhm I know more happened, but I'm blanking here... I've been trying to pick up some more hours at work and will probably grab a seasonal job if I can to help the school fund out while I have the semester off. We'll see how that goes.

Oh! I've also discovered netflix, which is probably not news to anyone who reads this, but hello! Why have I not joined before?! Actually, I know why. They used to just rent out movies by mail, which kinda sucks if you want to watch something new RIGHT NOW. So...they added the watch instantly online option for some movies and tv shows. Its great cause while I wait for movies to come by mail, I can still see certain movies and can watch pretty much any season of the office that I want. :P woo! I also figured out how to hook up my computer to my tv so I don't have to buy an xbox 360 or little cable box-type thing that will stream the movies from my computer to the tv.

Speaking of my computer, its on its death bed as we speak. :( Its been pretty good the past 3 1/2 years, but has been going down hill fast. Hopefully I can get all my stuff off it before it completely bites the dust. When I fully realized how bad it was getting (the screen was shorting out so bad, I could only use it when it decided to work and it only did that if I angled the screen to this one little spot....but even then sometimes it wouldn't work.

Well, the day I realized that my computer didn't really work and couldn't be fixed, I happened to get an email from hp which informed me they were having their laptop clearance. So I looked around at what they had the the reviews and I ordered this one:

From what my computer literate friends/family have said, it was a pretty good deal. It had a lot of free upgrades and was pretty affordable, as far as computers go, before the discounts. Frankly, compared to my dying laptop's 80gb hard drive, anything would probably impress me. :P But seriously, I am excited to get it.
And now some comedy from this guy:

Crayons

(I wrote this on the 19th and obviously never posted it because of lack of pictures.)

I've been doing much better at work thanks to Hyrum and Heather who got some crayons arranged for me last ....Friday I'm going to say. Yes, it was friday. When I am stressed out what really helps me is coloring and then I'm fine.

Last weekend was our family reunion, which was pretty fun... even though it rained every time we decided it was time to eat. It has been good to see the family more lately with dev's farewell, my Grandma and uncle Cliff visiting, and the host of relatives they attracted to visit our house as well. I'm excited to help with our winter reunion (Mom-if you need anymore help planning, I'm willing).

There are a few other things I could blog about, like the family pictures we had done this past week or devin going to the mtc, but I don't really like talking about subjects and not having a picture to go with it...which is the case for the past couple of topics I've covered...So I'm going to try to get some pictures off of my phone to post here and talk about.

CPR Recerts....DEATH!

So last month at work for our in-service training I thought it would be a good idea to do CPR recertification tests in order to avoid highschool lifeguards coming into the office every hour, on the hour with the following conversation taking place:

Lifeguard: (while avoiding eye contact and playing nervously with pens in cup on the desk) "Hey um....I had a question...

Me: .....yes? (said in dead tone while waiting for the question I know they will ask)

Lifeguard: yeah, uh I need my uh.....uhm...my CPR renewed....Could uhhh....could I do that?

Me: Did you go to in-service last month?

Lifeguard:
version 1-Well....I uh kinda forgot about it until the next day...
version 2- Well I didn't pass those tests
version 3- well....huh?

Me: You need to find an instructor who will recertify you. (sure as heck won't be me)

Lifeguard: oh...so you are an instructor and uhm...hyrum, uh erin, Suzanne, and uhmmmm.....

Me: ................Teralyn.....?

Lifeguard: oh...uh yeah. (guard then turns to look at manager schedule) Hyrum works tomorrow....do you think if I came in that he would be ready to test me right then?

Me: (complete with "are you kidding me??" look) No. He will be working then....

Lifeguard: Oh....yeah....(continues staring at schedule)

Me: (GIANT EYE ROLL) Can you come in at 4 tomorrow?

Lifeguard: .......9am-11pm????

Me: Can you come in to test at 4 tomorrow or not?

Lifeguard: oh...um...maybe....

Okay I can't continue explaining this conversation anymore. I love my job, but seriously...it seems like we go through phases of stupidity with these guards!!! I can't come in for each one whenever they want to have them just fail the tests cause they have no idea what the heck they are doing in the first place because they don't study or practice. GAH!!! Its bad, but I want someone to actually NEED CPR here so they will realize its not a joke and that they are being idiots. as'gweilof oR?KIew'weew iee <---me pounding on keyboard.

That is all.
